An All-New Trek Domane Is Coming — Here's How to Be First in Line
There's a completely new generation of the Trek Domane arriving — Gen 5 — and it will be revealed on August 4.
Until then, we can't show you the bike — no photos, no spec sheet, no published pricing. Trek keeps new models under embargo until reveal day, and that applies to us too. What we can tell you is that it exists, it's a full redesign rather than a color update, and August 4 is the day everything becomes public.
What we can say
The details stay sealed until August 4, but the direction of the new Domane is something we can talk about:
- A more all-round, all-road identity. Tire clearance goes up to 40c — territory that borders on gravel — so the same bike covers fast road rides and rough surfaces without pretending to be two different bikes.
- The Domane ride, lighter. The smooth ride the Domane is known for stays; the weight comes down considerably. Less of a trade-off between comfort and climbing than the outgoing generation asked you to make.
- On price: we're not allowed to publish numbers online before the reveal. What we can say is that it's priced noticeably more competitively than the equivalent Madone. If that comparison matters to you, come by the shop — that's a conversation we can have in person now.
So instead of asking you to buy a bike you haven't seen, we're doing something simpler: a free reservation list.
How it works
Reservation Details
No deposit. Joining the list costs nothing and commits you to nothing — see the bike on August 4, then decide. Cancel anytime. Reservation order determines priority on the first stock allocation. First Gen 5 stock arrives ahead of the reveal: Domane SL 6 from July 20, with SL 5 and SL 7 following before August 4 — so confirmed orders can be delivered quickly once the embargo lifts. Early stock centers on sizes 54, 56, and 58; other sizes follow with later shipments. This is a Platoon Cycles store promotion.
- Join the list — no deposit, no commitment. A message with your name and contact is all it takes.
- August 4 — the new Domane is revealed. We'll send you everything the moment we're allowed to: photos, specs, pricing, and our honest take.
- Decide by August 11 — if you like what you see, visit the shop within one week of the reveal to confirm your order, and the perks below are yours. Order confirmation happens in store — we check your sizing and fit before anything is ordered, so the bike that arrives is the right one. If it's not for you, just tell us. Nothing owed, no hard feelings.
Your place in line matters for one practical reason: reservation order decides priority on the first stock allocation. New-model first batches are usually limited, and riders who wait for reviews often end up waiting for the second or third shipment too.
The bikes arrive before the reveal does
Here's the part that makes this window unusual: the first new Domane SL 6 bikes start arriving at the shop on July 20 — two weeks before anyone gets to see what they are. SL 5 and SL 7 models follow in sequence before August 4.
They stay under wraps until reveal day; that's the deal with Trek and we're keeping it. But it means that when the embargo lifts, the bikes aren't on a boat somewhere — they're already here. Early stock centers on sizes 54, 56, and 58. Confirm your order in that first week and, if you ride one of those sizes, you could be on the new Domane within days of seeing it for the first time. Other sizes can still be ordered with the same perks — they'll just follow with later shipments.
What confirmed orders get
- Trek 50th Anniversary water bottle and bottle cage — limited-edition items made for Trek's 50th year. Once they're gone, they're gone; these aren't things you can simply buy later.
- A LAZER Sphere helmet — fitted in store when you pick up the bike, so the size and color are right.
This is a Platoon Cycles promotion, not a Trek campaign — it's our way of making the wait worth something during the quiet season.
The honest version
You're not risking anything by reserving, and that's the whole point of the structure. You lock in a place in line and a set of perks; the decision itself waits until you've seen the actual bike. If the new Domane isn't what you hoped for, you walk away and you've lost nothing.
And if you'd rather not wait at all — the current-generation Domane is a bike we know well and still stand behind. Come talk to us and we'll lay out both paths.
Reserve your spot
Getting on the list is easy: message us, call, or drop by the shop with your name and contact. That's it.
The order itself is confirmed in person at the shop after the August 4 reveal — sizing and fit come first, and that's not something we're willing to guess at over a message.
